These Victorian era two-part buckles feature a brass hand holding forget me not flowers with cut steel centers, mounted onto a circular dark wooden base with an elaborate floral & vine open work wreath border; these particular buckles are more like buttons as they would have been sewn on as a closure for a shawl or cloak. In Victorian times, the hand holding flowers could symbolize love & romance or remembrance, based on the type of flower. It is quite rare that a set like this has stayed together in such great condition for this long. *listing is for the group of two buckles, four pieces in total
Measurements: each circular section is 41mm wide, width of the full buckle is 86mm
Condition: excellent antique condition with light wear
