Description

This exceptional and one of kind Victorian era pendant is made of 10k gold in the Renaissance Revival style, with a center round enamelled copper plaque with a hand painted scene depicting a cherub holding an arrow, or spear, riding on the back of a dolphin over the ocean; the plaque is framed by a halo of graduated bubble pearls, with three on the bail.  This depiction of a dolphin might seem a bit odd, but at this time most people had not seen what a real dolphin looked like and relied solely on other's people descriptions of them.

Measurements: weight 5.7g, 33mm tall including bail, opening on back 17mm wide, bail opening 6.5x4.5mm

Condition: good antique condition with some general surface wear and sadly a few small chips to the enamel at the bottom right corner. The back section most likely originally held a glass frame so it could be used as a locket; you could easily fashion something to keep a photo in the back panel.

Markings: there are no markings but it has been tested and is guaranteed; the round frame piece on the back is gold filled
