This chunky antique brooch started out life as a functional rosette on a horse bridle that added some decoration to the equestrian gear, and it was later converted into a brooch.  The rosette features a reverse painted image of a man driving a horse-drawn buggy, or carriage, on a black background with a domed glass cover, set in a brass bezel.
