This incredibly detailed early Victorian era brooch features a large chunk of grey-green lava, which has been painstakingly hand sculpted in a three-dimensional high relief depicting a woman with long curly hair under a wide brimmed hat, holding in her bosom her cherished Cavalier King Charles spaniel dog.  Photos simply do not do justice to the extreme level of detail in every curly strand of her hair that has oak leaves woven through it, which seem to be falling from the top of her sunhat, the flowing fabric of her summer dress, or the detailed face of the animal. This hand carved cameo design is set in a gold filled frame with long pin & c-clasp back.

Condition: amazing condition considering its age & fragile nature; a sad chip to the tip of the woman's nose & a few tiny chips to hat brim, some discoloration to back of frame
