Description
This brooch from the late 1800s uses thin layers of silver and gold (possibly gold filled) to create a central flower design and scalloped border on a three dimensional hexagonal tortoiseshell base. This technique is called pique work. This pin weighs 5g and measures 30mm wide. The piece is in good condition for its age, with some chips to the underside edges, some splits in the metal overlay and the gold is worn. Please see all photos.
