This shimmering Victorian era brooch features a highly polished, multi-faceted domed French jet glass front, with a painted metal back & long pin; this piece was most likely worn as a piece of mourning jewelry as a remembrance of a loved one.  Mourning jewelry became particularly popular during the Victorian era, especially after the death of Prince Albert, when Queen Victoria famously wore black for the rest of her life.  **If you are interested in having this piece converted into a pendant, send me a message :)
