This unique Victorian era chatelaine clip was handcrafted in France of gilt silver with a hinged crossbar of oval turquoise cabochons with a thick front hook, and smaller loop on the back. This piece would have been attached to a belt or sash and had multiple chains dangling from the front hook, each with a useful household appendage such as scissors, thimbles, watches, keys, smelling salts, and household seals. This particular chatelaine clip is unique in the way that the top section is hinged. Today this could be used as a unique statement pendant or even a bookmark.
